Christmas at MASF - Christmas activities
The Sacred Art Museum of Funchal has prepared a program full of activities this festive season.
Come and discover the secrets that Christmas holds, in this Museum!
December 9th to January 15th – Baby Jesus Exhibition
Small temporary exhibition of Baby Jesus figures, to be seen at the Museum reception.
December 4th to January 5th – Christmas Village”
MASF will be present in Aldeia de Natal, at Praça do Município and in conjunction with Funchal City Council, with recreational-educational activities aimed at participating schools.
December 9th to January 15th – “Feast of Feasts”
MASF marks the 800th anniversary of the Crib of Saint Francis of Assisi with a proposed itinerary to discover the Nativity Scene, through its central characters, each with countless stories to tell.
Available in portuguese and english, free of charge to all visitors.
December 11th to 14th – Cycle of themed visits
Guided lunchtime visits on the theme of Christmas in the Museum's collection.
1pm – 1:30pm | €5 | upon registration
December 15th – “Two speeches”
Two Speeches is a thematic visit to works associated with Christmas. Throughout the circuit, visitors will be treated to songs and poetry, promoting dialogues between various artistic manifestations. The visit will end at the Belvedere Tower, with a tasting of Christmas liqueurs and sweets.
The registration fee goes towards the conservation of the Museum’s collection.
6pm – 7:30pm | Adult: €10 | Children from 6 years old: €3 | upon registration
December 18th – “The mystery of the missing painting”
Christmas workshop for children aged 6 to 12.
As if it were an adventure, children will be led, in this Workshop, to imagine the painting that is missing from one of the artworks in the collection. The stories that make up the Christmas narrative will be told and a visual arts activity will be developed, with the aim of discovering the part of the picture that time has made disappear.
