Madeira, from the Atlantic to the ends of the Earth

Commissioned by Francisco António Clode de Sousa, of the Museum Services Directorate of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, and Luiza Clode and D. Teodoro de Faria, of the Museum of Funchal Museum of Sacred Art, this exhibition celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Diocese of Funchal, through a careful selection of works representing the diversity, richness and artistic quality found on Madeira Island and Porto Santo. The exhibition was organized into three groupings:
1 - Eucharistic celebration and Christological themes;
2 - Devotional practices, representation of saints and donors;
3 - Evangelical mission and the witness of faith.
